Chapters 13-16 Summary

Chapter 13

Mclean is packing for trips to the beach as Chapter 13 opens. She is wondering what is going on with her father and Lindsay. Chuckles shows up, very excited, making many different references to Hawaii. Her dad goes to talk with Chuckles outside. Her mother calls, very excited about the trip. She reminds Mclean to pack a swimsuit. When her dad comes back in, Mclean tells him that she needs a swimsuit, and he gets upset at Chuckles for telling her about the job in Hawaii. This is a shock to her. She doesn't want to think about having to leave in five weeks. Her father tells her that she doesn't have to go, and she could go to live with her mom. It makes her want to cry.
