Point of View

"Westminster Abby" is written by a narrator who does not participate in the action of the book. The story is told in third-person omniscient tone, which gives the reader access to the characters' thoughts, but there are limits to the omniscience, as the narrator does not tell the characters' thoughts in explicit detail: listening to the narrative is more like watching a movie than like listening to characters' internal monologues. There are some places, though, where the novel includes emails from Abby and her friends and her mother, so that in some cases, the story is told directly by the characters, who describe their experiences and feelings directly to each other.
