Marc

Marc is the main character and the narrator of this novel. He is just finishing seventh grade as the novel opens. Marc's life has changed dramatically over the past couple of years because of the influence of his Uncle Jake, who is a former military man and is Marc's mother's brother. With Jake's guidance, Marc has created a list of nine points he calls the Warrior Kid Code. He diligently uses these points as his daily lifestyle, eating right, training, saving money, and learning. By the time the events of this novel take place, Marc has been working this lifestyle for a couple of years. Though he does not recognize it, he has hit a plateau where he believes he can keep up his current routines without pushing himself to do better.
