Mare Barrow

Mare Barrow, known to many as the lightning girl, is the main character and the only Red narrator in the novel. She is a powerful Newblood who uses purple lightning, can create storms, and control electrical currents. Despite her outward strength, Mare suffers from severe anxiety due to her time imprisoned by Maven in a previous novel. She has panic attacks when forced to be near Silent Stones and struggles against any Silvers that can silence her power. Mare also has an innate hatred for Silvers due to the hardship and oppression her family faced over the years. However, she does hold some respect for Evangeline and Cal, even though they have both betrayed her in the past. At the end of the novel, it is Mare who kills Maven after he attacks her, barely saving her own life. While she regrets not finding a way to...
