Summary

In Chapter 36, Sal and Phoebe catch the bus to Chanting Falls where Mike is attending college. They see Ben at the bus stop and ask if he’s headed to the university as well. He says he’s going to visit someone in the hospital. They stop at the front desk of the dormitory where Mike is living and are told they can go directly up to his room. Once away from the desk, Phoebe says she can’t go up. She and Sal slip outside instead. Sal is looking for a place to sit when she sees Mrs. Winterbottom sitting on a park bench beside Mike Bickle. She leans over while Sal watches and kisses Mike’s cheek.
