Summary

Chapter 2

In Chapter 2, Maise decides to remake herself. This makeover includes removing herself from the sleazy crowd she’d always talked with, applying for college, and facing one fear each month. She also decides to get a job and stop waiting for her mother to know what she needs and wants.

By the time Maise is allowed to register for her classes, film studies is already full even though Maise reserved the class a year ago. Maise can see by the reflection in the registrar’s glasses that she is playing Angry Birds. When Maise suggests she’ll have to sleep with the Dean of Admissions to get into the class, the registrar pretends as if a spot has opened up. Maise is so happy as she walks out of the building that she doesn’t notice Evan’s car in the parking lot...
