Summary

Tristan, Chestnutt, Gum Baby, and Ayanna fly Ayanna's raft over to Anansi's palace in the intimidating mountain cliffs known as Isihlangu. As they fly closer, they see seven spiraling towers made of ivory and gold, each one connected by a web of glittering silk. They also see fuzzy lumps on the thread. Chestnutt tells them that no one has gotten inside--ever. Tristan thinks it's a trap; that the palace is bait. they realize that the lumps are people and iron monsters who tried to find Anansi, but got ensnared in his great, glittering web. Tristan remembers what Nyame said about the adinkra bringing focus to his surroundings; he takes a deep breath and closes his eyes.
