Chapter 23

Kate is pulled into another room, but it’s not an attacker who has her, but a future, older, Kiernan. He saves her from the building and treats her wounds while she rests. When she wakes up, he reveals that he had been watching the building and kept traveling back in time to try and save Kate. He talks about the past that he had with a different Kate. The two of them were in love and actively fighting against the Cyrists. One day, Kate just stopped showing up and Kiernan knew that something had happened. He was eventually able to figure out about the altered timelines. Kiernan tells Kate that Saul’s plan is to expand the religion and then release a worldwide virus that destroys anyone who hasn’t taken an antidote. The surviving population will rebuild the world.
