Chapters 6-10 Summary

In Chapter 6, Andrew is exhausted the next day because of his lack of sleep. This becomes noticeable at breakfast the next day when he cannot keep up with the table conversation. Andrew's mother sends Andrew into town with his father so that he can help pick up supplies and drop off some baby blankets to Ham's mother for the orphanage where her eldest daughter works in Chicago. Andrew and his father stop at the gas station first. Andrew then goes off to the Stone Mason Lodge where he talks with some of the workers and shows a new carving he has completed to the local stone carver. Later, Andrew goes to Ham's.
