Summary

The section begins with a description of Sloane Ford, a beautiful woman in her early forties married to a man named Richard. They have two daughters together and a third from Richard’s first relationship. Sloane thinks back to earlier on in her adult life at a glitzy Christmas party when her father’s boss’s wife mentioned that Sloane should date her son.
