Chapter 8 Summary

Ranger and Stephanie stake out the apartment building on Montgomery for the rest of the morning. After lunch, Ranger suggests they start canvassing motels. Stephanie has no luck, so she calls it a day and goes to her parents' for dinner. After arriving, Stephanie calls Ranger and finds herself pressured into giving him an invitation to dinner. Stephanie's grandmother asks Ranger dozens of outlandish questions, finding the fact that he is a bounty hunter fascinating. Just as dinner is coming to an end, Ranger gets a call from one of his associates. Ranger asks Stephanie to help him with a take down. Ranger asks Stephanie to watch the front entrance of the building where he has been told his felon is hiding. The man runs out of the building, right into Stephanie.
