Summary

In Chapter 22 at 10:46 a.m. Sylv remembered how Tomas liked to be outside running or riding horses when it stormed. When his grandfather worried, Tomas told him that nothing could catch him, not even death. When Sylv hears a final bang she thinks to herself that it was only thunder that had come to make Tomas fly. Claire is there when Steve Johnson, CJ’s brother tells the officers his name. He adds that he has not seen his little sister. She continues to hear stories from students and teachers as they file through the line. She comments that she never realized “that courage was so terrifying” (246-247).
