Summary

The next chapter is told from the perspective of Phil and recalls the events of his childhood. When Phil was a child, the local priest came to the conclusion that Phil would become a priest one day and took him under his wing, lending him books and assisting in his education. Phil believed there were fairies who lived in the countryside near his house and made a wish to them one day that Hanorah Casey, a girl he had a crush on, would notice him and let him walk beside her. Not long afterwards, while Phil was carrying a book about wildflowers given to him by the priest, Hanorah asked Phil to help her pick some flowers.
