Summary

The first-person narrator sits at home, tired from work, the only thing going in in his life. The doorbell rings, he answers it but no one is there. This happen again. The door rings a third time and sees his childhood friend Tyrone James. Tyrone calls the narrator "Deez," a nickname for Darius that the narrator thinks is stupid. Tyrone apologizes for the prank. He explains that he has finished the first draft of his dissertation for his PhD in Cultural Studies. The dissertation is on the childhood game they used to play together called Ni**er Knockers, the game Tyrone just played on Deez. Tyrone asks Deez to read it and give feedback. Deez says yes, reluctantly. Tyrone leaves.
