Summary

In Chapter 53, Amanda learned from the hospital that Pete was in critical condition. Based on Pete’s good physical condition, Amanda wondered what sort of person had managed to hurt him that badly that easily. She felt guilty because she had pushed Pete to follow through with the text message request. If she had asked him to stay at work, he would still be alive.
