Summary

Chapter 16 is titled “The Advance.” Dumah has a tabletop model of the Far Country. The features and buildings are constantly moving except the House of Death. Dumah is huge and wears “relics” of his enemies as medals on his chest. He is wearing Yehuda Leib's red scarf. Dumah waves toward a stool. Behemoth says Dumah wants Yehuda Leib to sit. Yehuda Leib realizes that he has the upper hand because Dumah wants to talk to him. Yehuda Leib shakes his head, refusing to sit. Dumah hands Behemoth some papers. Behemoth says there has been a shift in power in the Far Country. Dantalion indicated that “The weapon that carries itself” will be vital in this war (285). Dumah has come to believe Yehuda Leib is that weapon. Dumah is offering Yehuda Leib a commissioned position in the army, including arrangements for him to train...
