Louise “Loo” Hawley

Louise “Loo” Hawley is one of the main characters, and she becomes a heroine in the novel. She is the daughter of Samuel and Lily Hawley and the granddaughter of Mabel Ridge. Loo was not quite one year old when her mother, Lily, was shot and drowned in a lake when Talbot took revenge on Loo’s father. Loo did not know the truth about her mother’s death until she was a teen and Mabel suggested that Hawley had killed Lily. It was at that point that Hawley told Loo what had really happened.
