Florida is the state where Alice and her family live. Alina and Saul immigrated to Florida after they escaped from Nazi-occupied Poland.

The Hill

The hill is the spot where Alina and Tomasz spent time together even before the war started. Tomasz proposed to Alina on that hill. When Tomasz returned to Poland after he escaped from the Nazi army, he hid out on that same hill. After Tomasz turned himself in and was killed, he was buried on the hill. Alice and her family later buried Alina and Saul’s ashes on the same hill next to Tomasz’s grave.

Trzebinia

Trzebinia is the small town in Poland where Alina, Tomasz, and their families lived. Alice travels to Trzebinia to find answers to the unanswered questions about her grandmother’s life.
