Saul Weiss aka Tomasz Slaski

Saul Weiss is a Jewish man who worked as a pediatrician in Warsaw before World War II. Tomasz was impressed by Saul and decided to focus his medical studies on children. After Saul and Eva were moved into a Jewish ghetto, Saul invited Tomasz, who had been conscripted into the German army, to escape with them.

Saul and his wife stayed several months with their baby daughter in a tiny nook of Jan’s house until they were betrayed by Jan. Tomasz decided that Saul should take his place and go with Alina to smuggle the film out of Poland. At the refugee camp, Saul makes a name for himself as a doctor. He refuses to tell people he is Jewish because he is not emotionally ready to be persecuted for his faith again.
