Georgie Bishop

Georgie is the novel's main character. He is a dwarf, but at the beginning of the novel he is not bothered by the things that make him different from other children. Georgie is outgoing, smart, has his own business, and likes classical music. His parents are professional musicians, his best friend is Andy and he later becomes friends with Russ and Jeanie. He also has a crush on Allison until the end of the narrative.

The well-adjusted child readers meet in the first few pages of the novel changes, though, as events threaten what is normal in his life. Georgie does not take well to change and becomes mean, selfish and self-conscious about the fact that he is a dwarf.
