Chapter 6 Summary

Billy is talking to Eddie in one of his "dreams" where they are on the sledding hill. Eddie asks Billy why he's haunting him and Billy says he isn't, that Eddie's his best friend. Billy says he meets Eddie on the sledding hill because they had so much fun there when Billy was alive. Billy asks Eddie why he wants to be baptized and Eddie says it's because he's scared.

Chapter 6 Analysis

Billy cannot change Eddie's mind or point things out directly to him, but Billy can use their discussions in his dreams to make suggestive comments that gets Eddie thinking along the right lines. It seems as if Billy is warning Eddie about Tarter, as if Tarter might do something to Eddie, such as expel him out of school.
