Chapter 13: Danus Summary

Penelope wakes up and feels wholly refreshed. It is her last day in Porthkerris. She drives to see The Shell Seekers to admire it in its final home. While there, she hears a visitor come in and is immediately reminded of the first time she met Richard. When she looks up, she sees Danus instead and the memory merges into an illusion with his resemblance to her former love. He begins to talk with her about Antonia and how he is leaving early to return to Edinburgh. Penelope is shocked that he is leaving and abandoning Antonia until he tells her that the reason he has been so secretive is that he believes he has epilepsy. The reason he has never told his parents is because they lost a son at a young age and did not want to worry them...
