Summary

In Chapter 25, the DEPRAC officials had arrived at Combe Carey Hall by four in the morning. Starkins thought they were phantoms and fired iron filings at them, slowing their entrance into the estate. Lucy's close encounter with Annabel has left her dazed and cold. A medic gave her adrenaline and bandaged her injured hand. “A kindly DEPRAC officer did the best thing of all and made me a decent cup of tea” (364).
