Summary

The final part of the novel picks up with Aoro, depicting his time in medical school. He is a strong student and meets another student, Wandia Mugo, with whom he competes for the top grade in their anatomy class. Following a major exam, the grades are posted and Wandia beats Aoro by a single point. While Aoro is disappointed, he invites Wandia to coffee and admiringly tells her that she is "tough." She tells him she hopes to be more than just tough, as she thinks doctors also have to be compassionate with their patients. She and Aoro develop romantic feelings for one another and eventually begin dating, though Wandia expresses some initial hesitation about balancing a relationship and school.
