Summary

The final section of Kelley's novel opens with Mandy throwing herself into her work in Chapter 19. She is planning a re-opening party for Mimi's Place and showing off her business acumen left and right. Mandy and her sisters "invited all the local downtown businesses, especially those that were in the hospitality industry like bed and breakfasts and hotels, as they would be likely to recommend local restaurants" (208). The party is a huge success, thanks to Mandy's event planning brilliance. Daisy, Cory's best friend wife, arrives and acts in her usual cold way toward Mandy. Barbara, Mandy's friend, complains about Daisy's rudeness, and tells Mandy that she "'saw her this morning having coffee with Cory at the Bean....They looked awfully cozy" (211). Mandy dismisses the comment and moves on.
