Chapters 13 through 15 Summary

In Chapter Thirteen, Temple and Maury arrive in a city and Temple faces choices including whether to follow a sign that says "Safe road." In years past, that section of the city had been home to a band of raiders that sent unsuspecting people into cul-de-sacs and dead ends where they were attacked and robbed, then left for the zombies. By the time Temple and Maury are traveling through the city, there aren't any humans left. One night they face a thunderstorm and Temple sleeps for awhile. She continually looks in the rearview mirror, expecting to see the headlights of Moses Todd following her. She has left the car with the tracking device behind and knows he can't possibly find her, and she isn't certain whether to be happy or sad at that thought.
