Summary

The speaker recalls visiting a secret place on her grandparents' property, which is a raspberry patch full of bramble, thorns, and berries. At ten years old, the speaker was just entering a world full of stress and turmoil, but she feels like royalty in the Raspberry Room. Getting there pricks her skin until it draws blood, but she repeatedly makes the effort to get there anyway. Time seems to pass differently, and the speaker spends hours in her sanctuary.
