Summary

In Chapter 13, Jude wakes when someone puts their hand over her mouth and she immediately strikes. She hears one person grunt in pain and another laugh. The Roach, still laughing, says they are rescuing her and creates some light, showing her that Cardan is present as well. Jude's first response is that Cardan should not be there, and the Roach says that was exactly what he told Cardan. Cardan had visited Vivienne and Taryn in the mortal world after Jude was kidnapped. When Vivienne received Oriana's note, she took it to Cardan, fearing a trap. Cardan and the Roach reveal that Vivienne, Taryn, and another woman (that Jude assumes is Heather) are all waiting nearby with horses.
