Summary

In Chapter 26, Jacob arrives in Athens, Georgia and meets with a lawyer named Arthur Pickens. Records show that Rose Parker was once a client of Mr. Pickens. Jacob presses Pickens for information, and Pickens refuses to answer. It is evident that he is still in touch with Rose, and that Rose has instructed him not to give out any information about her. Jacob then visits the building where Rose lived while she was a student at the University of Georgia. While speaking to the building staff, Jacob learns that Rose arrived at college on her own, as her mother apparently died during the trip down. Rose and Dianna were camping together when a sudden accidental fire apparently killed Dianna. The book then includes another Crib excerpt: Gab talks to Samantha and wonders why Samantha is selling her house. Samantha says she is thinking...
