Part 3 Summary

January 4, 1992

The next morning, Charlie went to mail the letter to his anonymous friend. Afterward he became sick and threw up. His thoughts were all jumbled. The police found him outside asleep and nearly frozen to death. His parents picked him up at the emergency room. He didn't want to upset his mother so he didn't tell her about the goings on at the party. The doctor at the emergency room had suggested that Charlie start seeing a psychiatrist again. When they got home, Charlie and his father watched a tape of his brother's game the live version of which they had missed because of the incident. Charlie knew that his parents were scared to death about his mental state. Even his sister was especially nice and warm to him. She offered to fix his hair. He didn't know that anything was wrong...
