Nantucket

Nantucket is a beautiful island on the East Coast. The island is full of expensive homes and happy people. The restaurants on the island are some of the best in the world. Everyone owns at least one sailboat. There is hardly ever any crime. Merritt's death shocks the whole community.

Summerland

Summerland is the Winbury's compound in the wealthiest part of Nantucket. It is a massive property right on the beach. There is a main house, two guest houses, and a pool house. Greer plans Celeste and Benji's wedding to take place at the property. Most of the action in the novel takes place at Summerland: Celeste and Shooter spend their first days together at the property, Benji proposes at a nearby restaurant, and Merritt meets Tag and begins an affair with him while visiting Summerland.

New York City

Celeste moves to New York City right after college...
