Summary

Chapter 21: Lily returns to Froid, Montana in April of 1985 as Eleanor and Lily's father prepare for their wedding while Lily struggles to like Eleanor even though she wants to. However, Eleanor's mother - nicknamed Grandma Pearl - promises to take care of Lily. During the wedding, Lily tries to ignore the women whispering about how fast Lily's father remarried. During the father-daughter dance, he admits that he is a little sad too. As Lily worries she will not have room in her father's life, Odile reassures her that a family is something that one creates. As they talk about books, Lily feels she will always be close to Odile.
