December 1993. The Golds and the Hartes take a ski trip to Sugarloaf over the Christmas holiday. James meets a man on the ski lift who offers to take James and Chris hunting. On the trip, Chris shoots a rabbit. Chris finds the death of the tiny animal revolting and he throws up, embarrassing himself and his father. Later that night, Chris sneaks downstairs and gets into a bottle of liquor, trying to make the memory of the hunting trip go away.
