Chapter 8 Summary

Stacy calls Detective Markowitz, and police are sent to check things out until the detective can arrive. As the police finish checking Stacy's yard, the Coopers return home, and Mrs. Cooper is frantic with concern about her children. Dad also arrives and calms everyone down as the police officer explains what happened. When he suggests that Stacy is just nervous, the Cooper girls object that they saw the figure too. After the Coopers go inside, Detective Markowitz arrives, and after talking to the officers, he agrees it was just Stacy's imagination. Stacy does not sleep well that night, seeing the guy with the gun each time she closes her eyes, though she still cannot see his face. She knows she is trying too hard, but she has to see it.
