Summary

In Chapter 31, "May 2, 2010, Rose, Life 5," Rose and Thomas start "seeing each other again" (295). Luke does not notice.

When Addie almost falls, Rose becomes terrified of losing her. She remembers feeling "this possessiveness, this fear" regarding Luke (296).

One day Rose visits her father, and tells him about her affair. Her father is gracious, encouraging her "to find the courage to end this marriage" (301). Shortly thereafter, while Addie is with her grandparents, Rose tells Luke she wants a divorce.

In Chapter 32, "June 4, 2014, Rose, Life 3," before Rose’s mother dies, Rose takes Addie to say goodbye. Rose realizes Addie is a lot like her grandmother (314).

Three days later, they have the funeral.

In Chapter 33, "April 8, 2015, Rose, Life 6," Rose, her father, and Addie have lunch. Addie asks questions about why Rose works when her grandmother never did. Rose's father helps explain.
