Summary

In Chapter 29, after she learned about the rumors circulating about her, Merilee took a leave of absence from her job and pulled Lily and Colin from school for a few days. Merilee and Colin were in the front yard hanging bird feeders when Lily ran from the house, crying. She told her mother that Bailey had finally answered her phone when Lily called but said that she could not talk to Lily ever again.

Later, when came Wade came to visit he asked about Merilee’s previous marriage. She admitted that she was married right out of college and that her husband had drowned on their honeymoon. He asked who had known about her first marriage and why they had decided to start spreading rumors. Wade also told Merilee that Heather had called him a couple of times and tried to warn him...
