Summary

In Book II, “Bezi Duras,” Sil’s mother took her to an abandoned café called Tufaah, which she wanted to buy. She started making plans, convinced the café would change their lives.

Meanwhile, Sil’s “curiosity about Bezi and the dogs” grew (59). She asked her mother about dogs, spied on Bezi, and kept track of Bezi’s habits.

One day, Sil snuck into the penthouse elevator courtyard, discovering the elevator was locked. Shortly thereafter, Sil discovered that her mother had spare keys to everyone’s units. While her mother was meeting with the school officials one day, Sil tried to find the key to Bezi’s elevator, but there was no match. Amidst her search, a familiar-looking man appeared and accused her of snooping. While they were talking, Sil realized he was one of the people Ena had said never to let into...
