Summary

Chapter 1 begins with a warning to the reader. Max Crumbly, the main character and narrator, thought he was going to die as a result of something bad that happened to him at school. He admitted that the person who did the deed did not expect it to be a fatal prank. However, he still feared for his life.

Max also spoke about how life would be a lot cooler if he had super powers. In fact, he even tried to give himself super powers in the past. He attempted to mix some chemicals into a drink that would do that. Instead, there was an explosion.

In Chapter 2, Max discussed how his day went from bad to worse. He was late for school, had to chase after the bus, and got stuffed in his locker by the bully Doug “Thug” Thurston.
