Section 5: Chapter 10 Summary

In Chapter 10: Los Angeles, January 2000, Mike shaves his hair and buys glasses and new clothes before going to the bus station the next morning, so he looks like a completely different person. He packs his belongings and takes the bus to Los Angeles. On the third morning, four attractive young men and women knock on the door, introducing themselves as Julian, Ramona, Gunnar and Lucy. Doubting Mike's ability to open a safe, Gunnar wants to see him do it first, so Ramona lets Mike drive her Harley, and they ride to a modest house on Grant Street where the four live together.
