Spectrum Hall Academy for Challenging Children

Spectrum Hall is an isolated school run by Doctor Fredericks. Children whose parents do not want them or cannot handle their bad behavior are sent to the school. Kester is sent to the school right after his mother's death, without even getting the chance to say goodbye to his father. Doctor Fredericks tells Kester his father does not want him, but Kester never believes this. In truth, The Factorium threatened to kill Kester if his father continued to try and make a cure for the plague, and they kidnapped Kester and put him in the school as a means to control his father. Kester is miserable and lonely while at Spectrum Hall, and the other children bully him.
