Point of View

The novel is written in third-person from a series of limited perspectives. The majority of the novel focuses on a woman named Jennifer who is in her 20s in the 1960s, and the reader sees many of the early scenes from her perspective. This limited perspective allows the author to create an air of mystery from the beginning because Jennifer wakes in the hospital with no memories of her past. The author takes the reader on Jennifer's journey to figure out who she was before the wreck, and – more importantly – who she is going to be now. There are also some scenes presented from other perspectives. Jennifer is not always present, and the other perspectives are necessary to explain the events.
