Summary

Part IV, “Matthew Thatcher and James Stuart, 1602” opens with a quote from a member of the British House of Commons expressing concern about the unsettled matter of Elizabeth's successor.

In Chapter 1, Thatcher/Ezzedine arrived in James's castle where he met the king's other physician, Dr. Craig, who greeted him coldly. He was unsettled by Leveret/Belloc's warning that he would be observed and listened to at all times in the castle, and dreamed of discovering all the ways he was being spied upon.
