Summary

In Chapter 19, Alma never mentioned Ichimei to Seth while she was recounting her life to him. Meanwhile, Irina found peace in delving into Alma’s memories other than her own. Alma knew she was becoming older. There were things she could no longer do on her own. Although there were few pictures that featured Alma, an exhibition of Nathaniel’s photographs of her was opened at a prestigious art gallery. The pictures were taken during an eight-year span between 1977 and 1983. The woman that Irina saw in the photographs scared her. Seth took her hand and she let him hold it. The woman working at the gallery did not recognize Alma as being the woman in the photographs.
