The Wind Knows My Name Overview

In the historical fiction novel, The Wind Knows My Name, by Isabel Allende, both Samuel Adler and Anita Díaz were separated from their parents as they fled atrocious conditions in their homelands. With the exception of her father, Leticia Cordero lost her family in the El Mozote massacre. Though these separations were decades apart, circumstances brought Samuel, an old man, and middle-aged Leticia together with eight-year-old Anita to form the only stable family that they ever had. Themes in the novel include the meaning of family, immigration, and crimes against women.
