Summary

In Chapter 15, the narration describes some specific elements from the exoneration hearing of Ron and Fritz. While arguing in favor of Ron and Fritz’s previous convictions, Bill Peterson carefully avoided mentioning all of the glaring problems with the evidence as it had originally been presented. Ultimately, the judge set Ron and Fritz free, but the freed men received not so much as an apology from the judge, the state, the police, or any court officials. Police officials began to turn their attention to Glen Gore, who began attempting to evade law enforcement. Unfortunately, despite the exonerations, Ron remained something of an outcast in Ada. His community church made no special recognitions of him, and there were reports of possible vigilante plans to attack Ron. While none of these attacks ultimately transpired, Ron’s family briefly considered calling the Ada police...
