Summary

In Chapter 10, Ms. Chapelwhite and Linus take the ferry to town. Merle is rude as usual. Ms. Chapelwhite explains that they keep Merle around to keep the peace with the villagers. Linus calls Merle a bastard, earning Ms. Chapelwhite’s respect. She tells him to call her Zoe. Linus goes to the post office to mail his weekly report to DICOMY and receives a message from DICOMY stating that he must be sure to tell them every single detail. The postman condemns magical people and tells Linus he hopes Linus gets rid of them. Linus tells him to mind his own business. Meanwhile, Zoe buys Linus an explorer outfit for the game they all play that afternoon with the children. They all dress up and the kids go on an imaginative quest in the forest.
