Summary

Chapter 10 takes place a couple of weeks later on Saturday, February 27. Charlie has a weekend with no commitments. Margaret is touched when Charlie wants to see a movie with her. Charlie says he is glad Margaret is pregnant, expressing it as “I'm glad the rabbit died” (97). This prompts a discussion of how doctors confirm pregnancy. Margaret is often tired and goes to bed very early. She is upset that Gwinnett's team returned to the field without her (apparently because she is pregnant). Charlie was relieved to discover appropriation for Goodstone had been stricken from the proposal. After the movie, Margaret and Charlie encounter Jack and Bob Kennedy and their wives. Jack tells Bob that Charlie is “taking on Goodstone.” Bob says it was risky “what with General Kinetics making a move on (Goodstone)” (101).
