Chapter 8, Puerto Rico Summary and Analysis

After Xaviera's boyfriend Paul Lindfield breaks up with her during her arrest, Xaviera decides to travel to Puerto Rico as many of her New York friends like to do in the winter. She decided to spend a three-day weekend there and catches a plane to San Juan. On her third day there she meets a man named Harry Curtis who invites her to stay with him during his week vacation. She moves in with Harry, feeling madly in love with him, and they spend the week together. When Harry leaves, Xaviera decides to stay and begin working in Puerto Rico as a prostitute.
