Summary

As winter arrives, many of the workers struggle to visit their families. Tatto visits from the palace and says there is going to be a war as he sees more soldiers training. Ideca says that Selia and her guards came by looking for Ani, but Ideca sent her away and Ani knows that her disguise is working. She considers returning to Kildenree in the spring as she has nothing left for her in Bayern.

She joins the workers in the marketplace where Wintermoon is being celebrated. Ani sees a sorceress and wonders if she is performing real magic.
