Part 2, chapters 8-12 Summary

Part 2 begins with a discussion about an Irish law that prohibits women from fighting as warriors. There are also references to women warriors fighting in ancient Greece.

CHAPTER 8: SUNDAY, 1.v - MONDAY, 2.v

Erika Berger arrives at SMP for her first day of work. She is a day early but too restless to stay at home. She meets with the outgoing editor, Morander, a colleague who has spent 12 years at the job but is now ill.

Morander explains the dire situation at SMP.
